What Does the F208 Fault Code Mean?

Indramat MKD motor F208 Error Code

Indramat motion systems are respected for their strong build, superior performance, and long-lasting reliability. Despite Indramat no longer being active as a company or producing new units, numerous motion control systems still rely on their components for their consistent quality. Nevertheless, as time advances, there may be a need to replace these components. The modular design of Indramat products thankfully makes this replacement process more manageable.

The F208 error code appears as "F2" followed by "08" on the H1 status indicator and is referenced in the ECODRIVE drive controller's user manual. The manual defines this error as "UL The motor type has changed," which usually occurs when a motor within the motion control system is replaced and the system is powered up for the first time, signaling a possible mismatch to the operator.

In such instances, the drive controller, which controls the servomotor, compares the motor type listed in the parameter file with that of the connected motor. If there is a discrepancy between the motor type in the parameter file and the installed motor, the F208 fault code will appear, suggesting that adjustments might be necessary for the basic control loop settings.

Clearing the F208 Fault Code:

- If your system uses an MDD or MKD motor, you can reset the error by pressing the S1 reset button.

- For systems that incorporate motors from the 2AD, 1MB, or ADF series, the fault can be cleared by executing the C700 basic load command.

FAQs:

1. What type of fault code is F208?

F208 is a non-fatal error code that generally can be resolved without the need for professional services. It is one of the more straightforward fault codes that can quickly be remedied in-house.

2. What information does the feedback memory within the motor contain?

The feedback memory in the motor holds the regulator settings for controlling position, velocity, and current loops. Clearing the F208 error ensures these default control loop settings are either restored or continued without alteration.
